First of all due to the limitations of google reviews you only get the option of giving 4 or 5 stars and nothing in between. I would have given the hotel 4.5 if I could. We just wanted a quick one night away from London and chose The Kings Arms and Royal hotel as it looked nice and there were good pub options nearby. The hotel is lovely, with a nice buzzy vibe and secluded areas in the large bar area. The room we booked was comfy, well decorated with a lot of nice extras including the tea/coffee options. We ate nearby and when we went back to the hotel bar fancied another couple of bar snacks only to be told the kitchen had just closed. However the manager spoke to the chef and as we only wanted snacks he sorted it out for us, and they were just what we wanted (olives, sourdough with balsamic vinegar and halloumi fries). I enjoyed the beer and my better half had a lovely espresso martini. There was a really nice atmosphere in the bar and everyone was clearly enjoying themselves. I would definitely recommend the hotel, part of the Coaching Inn Group. Have previously stayed in one of their other hotels in Thirsk which was also nice.

What at impressive building greets your arrival and once inside there's a warm glow and the buzz of a bar and restaurant very much at the heart of the local community. The small hard working team are friendly and helpful to deal with and enjoy their jobs. Secondary double glazing to the bedrooms keeps the background noise out, although the party wall to the room adjoining mine wasn't so successful. Be aware there is no lift at this hotel, but I found the steps manageable. The restaurant is spacious and attractive, with a good evening menu catering for a range of tastes and budgets. The railway station is within a 10 minute walk and there are bus stops right outside the hotel. I found Godalming a very easy going place with a relaxing vibe which invites you to just kick back.

Have stayed here before and it was great to come back. This feels like a proper hotel! Beautiful rooms, clean and comfortable. Every thing you need and in an excellent town centre location. Very friendly welcome, made us feel right at home. Would highly recommend.

My 3rd visit this year and again a fabulous welcome,lovely room and great food.Il be back in September and already looking forward to it.Thank you one and all for yet a great visit.I just love the whole ambiance of the hotel.I ate two evening meals and both nights it was excellent. I had steak both nights but couldn't fault anything about either meals.

The room was very warm as our stay was during a mini heatwave. However the staff did provide a fantastic which helped. Staff could not have been nicer or more helpful

"I had an amazing stay at this lovely hotel. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and equipped with excellent facilities. The staff were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable experience. The food was exceptional – I highly recommend the fish and chips, and the cooked breakfast in the morning was perfect. Compliments to the chef! If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely return. Highly recommended!"

Really nice rooms! And you can't be more central for Godalming. Have stayed here a few times now and would definitely stay here again.
